European Shorthair
General: The European Shorthair (also called "European", "Europé" or "Celtic Shorthair") originates from populations of barn cats and strays in different countries of Europe. The Chartreux, the British Shorthair and even the American Shorthair were developed from the ESH, and they are now more popular than the original breed. Nowadays, ESHs are mostly bred in Sweden and Finland (and they are fairly popular there), although some breeders can be found in other countries as well.
