Kamet Shortnose
General: One of these agile cats was first sighted peeking its short nose over a ledge to watch a tourist group on Mount Kamet in the Himalayas.
Upon further sightings, it was seen they had thick coats to keep out the bitter cold, varying in length, and rough paw pads to climb the sheer mountain faces, but no one knew why they chose to live in such a dangerous environment. A few were rescued and rehomed nearby, but escaped and made their way back to the mountains.
These quirky cats were carefully monitored, and it was revealed that they lived and hunted in small family groups. They were left much to themselves for a while, until a group was seen far to the west, in a beautiful pine forest that had been left untouched. This is when the move to register them began, and was successful not long after.
The Kamet Shortnoses are reserved cats, and now live in any environment from mild-temperatured, to freezing.
And they, curiously, also like to take refuge in high places, such as trees and large boulders.
